Buying Comfort

This series of photographs covers a dark aspect of society that has been surfacing for the past few months due to the pandemic, COVID-19, that the world is suffering from.

The escalation of COVID-19 gave birth to widespread panic buying a social phenomenon that is disturbing. THough some of it is rational, to stock up on medication for chronic conditions, the rest are irrational when people are buying rolls of toilet paper or cartons of instant noodles that is more than they need as shown in social media.

Humans are very fragile creatures and when there are risks involved, the defence mechanism in us kicks in, making us do things that is beyond our own principles for the sake of survival especially during this unsettling times.

As you look through these photographs of receipts, the next you go groceries shopping, get only what you need and spare a thought for those that will need it more.
